The Bonham Exchange is San Antonio’s most storied LGBTQ+ nightclub, operating continuously since July 1981 inside the historic 1891 Turner Hall building at 411 Bonham St. Founded by Arthur “Hap” Veltman, the 25,000 sq. ft. three-level venue features multiple dance floors, over 10 bars, outdoor patio, and rotating DJs spinning House, EDM, Latin, Top 40, and Hip Hop. The Bonham has hosted legendary performers including Tina Turner, RuPaul, Iggy Pop, and The Ramones, and is home to the Happy Foundation — San Antonio’s LGBTQ+ historical archive. It remains an iconic and enduring community landmark.
